I want to set up a social networking site with varying levels of paid membership. Members will have their own webpage for advertising their services or talking about their experience in this niche. I want them to have the ability to upload content, e.g articles and videos. Different membership levels will also have access to different forums.
What is the best way to set up this kind of membership site? There are a number of social networking platforms that would end up costing several hundred a month plus I would be figuring some upfront expenses to customise the look, or would it be better to have someone build the site for me from scratch and how would I find the right person?

EXCELLENT IDEA! I have talking about this idea and a strategy in my keynote presentations over the past 6 months or so. I believe you’re on to a great idea that will build you a sizeable niche for your target market.
You can definitely set up like you have already identified but paying ongoing fees to a 3rd party for the infrastructure of your site, in addition to the hosting of it, in my opinion, is not ideal because ultimately you want to own the ’software’ that drives your site – your database, your functions, your custom ideas and innovations.
Having said that, once you own the infrastrucutre outright, it’s up to you to keep it up to date and functional to meet market demands. There’s always a trade off – for me personally, I like to own my technology on my web site. I use 3rd party for my client mailing and affiliate management because I can extract these at any time and the infrastructure of my business is not affected.
SO, we actually brought the infrastructure technology outright and are currently producing customized social network sites for our clients. This cost us a few thousand dollars initially for the generic infrastructure and about another $12,000 to customize it. You may be able to do it cheaper. Our package might work for you too. If you like, I can show you what we can do at the live workshop in this area. You can also ‘google’ some keywords relating to ‘buy social network sites’.

Hi Jen, my partner and I are signed up with Mal Emery for the big makeover. Our initial business plan failed but we have in the meantime come up with a new plan which will focus on building a an online comunity that accomodates the craft workers, hoby jewellers, micro businesses and small business that relate to crafts and jewellery or even small contractors that do things like metal work and other DIY type of stuff. I have registered two domains JewelPortfolio.com and CraftPortfolio.com. for this purpose. I expect to sign up several thousand members in the space of a few months.
You already let me know that your system will fit us like a glove. How will it work setting up a community, each with his own shopfront and how can we manage this community easily as well as market products to them?
I am looking forward to attending the workshop.

Are you talking about a Social Network on a web site when you say community?
Are you talking about affiliates or members when you say each with their own shopfront?
Just need some clarity and then I can attempt to give you a general answer. You may need a specialized consultation, tailored to your unique needs.

I am building a membership site called TrimBodyClub.com using MemberSpeed. The membership to include those people interested in weightloss, wellness, exercise and anything that keeps one healthy. I understand that this is a broadbrush and I would like to develop at least 3 levels of membership and my question is what to offer on each level. ie: Free, Silver, Gold.
I also intend to develop a blog specific to each of a number of niches within the membership site to capture leads. These would be lists niche specific who would receive a weekly newsletter relative to the subject.
I have an MLM program which I want to include
any suggestions?

FREE, Silver, Gold, Gold Plus and Platinum are pretty much the recognized ‘grades’ or ‘levels’ for a Membership.
Free exists to allow a ‘test drive’ for no more than 30 days and is designed to move people forward with you, without them taking any initial risk – after 30 days, their card is billed, unless cancelled.
SILVER exists only to sell Gold – price point between the two should be small to encourage people to stretch to the next level – increasing your per head spend.
GOLD exists as the foundation of your revenue streams – stabilished base of your recurring income system.
GOLD PLUS allows those with further capacity beyond just Gold to get more for more – identifying those with a greater capacity to pay.
PLATINUM exists for those that want specialized, tailored services and should be set at a premium price point – it’s the one everyone wants and will work towards. It should include ’special reward’ and ‘accreditation’.

Great ’starting out’ question!
Where to Start?
The best thing you can do is get a perspective of what’s possible with business on the internet as a starting point. Not so much about what’s technical possible, that’s not going to generate income for you. What I’m talking about is WHAT REVENUE/INCOME STREAMS are possible online – primarily from a web site that you own, outright.
This ownership of a web site, that operates as a business (that is it generates income streams) is the cornerstone of everything WE teach you about successful business online. Why? Because if you’re going to build a business and/or make money online now, we want to you be building an asset base at the same time – an asset base you could sell in 2-3 years from now, if you chose to exit. NOT having an exit strategy and NOT building an appreciating asset base is the single biggest mistake people make and end up with ‘nothing to show’ for their efforts.

I’m really glad you’ve asked about Article Submission on the net because circulating your content across the world wide web and using the services available for you to help do that is a really important part of raising your web position – both on search engines and tapping in to markets of private site owners and ezine marketers.
If you can produce an article, about 250-500 words, you are giving ’samples’ of your work that:
1) Search Engines appreciate ‘content’ … information on topics to put in their search results, it’s appealing to their audience.
2) Your marketplace appreciates learning more – both about a topic and about you
3) Your fellow industry members appreciate being able to use your content to add value to their web sites and ezines
4) Anyone who is currently talking to your marketplace can connect you with them – increasing the sources you have for lead generation.

My wife and I have owned a retail homewares store for five years. We have been online for 4 and see the growth is definatelty online. Next year we have decided to close the retail store and go online only. We have three young kids so we are also trying to get our life back. Will your course suit our needs?

For approximately 2 years I have been ‘researching’ internet businesses. Sadly, having listened to so much information, I have no idea how to come up with an idea. During my business life I have been a ‘Jack of all trades, master of none’ and, while I have lots of experience in many industries, don’t believe I have enough knowledge of interest to others. Any ideas how to narrow this down?

Thank you for asking such an honest question – it’s a question alot of people have … including myself when I first started.
To find the right place to start really comes down to a few key factors:
1) What Can You Offer the Marketplace?
2) What Do You Like to Do?
3) Who Do You Want to Help?
4) Who Wants What You’ve Got to Offer?
Now I dont expect you’ll just rattle off the answers to these questions, it may take a little time to really find your answers, but when you do, you’ll know it’s right and you’ll suddenly get that burst of inspiration you need right now to take you from sitting on the sidelines to getting in the game. You’ll get a sore butt and a full head if you sit still for too much longer.
I’d like you to have a look around the web at what other people are doing and shortlist the things that appeal to you. Then, pay attention to what I teach you at the Workshop about “Blue Sky, Billion Dollar Markets” … finding a match with one or more of those to what you want to do and who you would like to help will move you forward from where you are now.

Transitioning an offline business to an online business is definitely a trend with many stories of great success. DealsDirect.com.au is a good example of a warehouse only (no shop presence) example of that.
I think you want to be strategic about your transition as you want to stabilise your income and ideally of course increase it as quickly as possible. YOu’ll surely increase profit just by transitioning but that alone will not build you a sustainable long term business – you need traffic!
Although my day is not targetted at businesses making this transition, the content will still be essential – the right site architecture and the right traffic gen plan will make or break you.

C.P. – firslty I’m sure you’ll appreciate, at least the courtesy of your first name would increase my likeliness to want to work with you.
With regards your question, and I’m answering this for the sake of everyone, what answer are you really wanting?
You want INSTANT MONEY, INSTANT RICHES, INSTANT WEALTH? What do you believe you must PUT IN to get any of these out?
I definitely appreciate the question but when I see/hear it, and it does come up time to time, it sets off alarm bells from the point of view of “how badly does this person need everything to work within the next 30 days?” You see, business is not like a job, where you exchange time for dollars, irrespective of your effectiveness. And if you add the idea that you want to do as little as possible for as much as possible – instantly, you’re probably setting yourself up for disappointment.
Now in business you never want your time for money to match – you do want to do as little as possible yourself (leverage everything you can) for maximum return – but you will find that outcome usually isn’t instant.
Do we have people that make money right away – is that your question? The answer is YES!
Do we have people that do not make money right away?
The answer is YES!
I cannot guarantee you will make a success of anything, including our Turn-key Start Up Businesses – naturally we want everyone to be successful — only you can Guarantee your Success though.
And this is the case for everyone and everything you do – be realistic, be committed … and you’ll make it.
If anyone promises you anything other than that, they’re kidding you and themselves.
The internet represents the single best opportunity EVER known to man – low risk, low capital start up, high returns, incredible lifestyle — your input will determine how much of that you get to enjoy!

A web based business seems like a great idea to me. The flexibility and freedom to move is like an elixir to me. Where do I start?… I want to be earning equivalent to my salary before quitting my employ.
I am keen on learning the dynamics of an online business, ie How to create an affiliate marketing website and learn how to reproduce this into mltiple streams of income?
I simply dont know where to start. I hope you will be able to give me tools and ideas on how to do this?

I have an offline book buisness, I started up a year ago and sell to schools, play groups and do the occassional book party. I want to go online but have a cash flow problem. What’s the minimum cost required to create a web based business with full e-commerce facilities?

about Keyword research. I have Keyword Elite and Micro Niche finder. But the one I always found easiest to work with was the free pixelfast/overture tool, which is no longer free.
I guess these fancy keyword research tools make me a little confused. Do you have any suggestions as to which keyword tool you recommend or find the best?
With all these strength of competition buttons and green and red lights I seem to get a bit bewildered when I look at them. And often there are different results from one tool to another.
I find that some tools have 30 day data, other tools have 90 day data. So I feel like I never know exactly what I am looking at. Am I the only one???
In case you didn’t understand the question in all of that gibberish, which keyword tool do you recommend as the most straight forward and easiest to use?

I battle to read due to something similar to ADD, so video and vice recordings helps me enormously.
I am about to launch my new jewellery design business to the world and you have made it possible.
